Geothermal Anywhere (GA) is a research company headquartered in Bratislava, Slovakia founded in 1994. Its core business is research and developments in deep drilling applications based on technology of high-energetic electrical plasma. GA has developed an innovative deep drilling system whose aim is to efficiently reach sources 5 – 10 km (3 – 6 miles) deep. This technology brings substantial results in many industries such as geothermal energy, underground mining, oil and gas or carbon capture and storage.

The company is public-funded company active in Framework Programme 7 Integrated project, 3 Cross-border and national projects and 6 Structural funds of the EU[2]. GA owns several patent applications for technologies in the deep drilling and material disintegration area.

Partner network

GA has created or is a co-founder of the network of technology organizations not only in the Central Europe but worldwide[3] actively supporting GA’s activities. Its partner network consists of Slovak (Slovak University of Technology, University of Zilina, Comenius University, several institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences) and European organisations (Vienna University of Technology, EGS Energy)[4].

Mining applications

Technology developed by GA combined with the development of current mining techniques may bring smart technology for underground mining industry. The most promising project connects advantages of plasma drilling and raise boring technologies. This combination may increase mining productivity and decrease time and money requirements.

Slovak national TP geoEnergia

GA is a co-founder of Slovak national geothermal technology platform geoEnergia[5]. Its main goal is to create a common framework for cooperation among research organizations and industry in Slovakia to develop geothermal technologies not only in Slovakia but also in whole EU. The main founder is Agency for geothermal power engineering (AGEO).

Research Centre for Deep Drilling

On 11 November 2010 GA established Research Centre for Deep Drilling in the premises of Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia.
