Products

Name: EnDura®
Description: The ultimate range of elastomers for sealing applications in the world's most aggressive high pressure environments.
Details:
The ENDURA® range of elite elastomer materials has been specifically developed by PPE for use in downhole, surface and subsea oilfield equipment and offers excellent Explosive Decompression (ED) or Rapid Gas Decompression (RGD) resistance. The range includes material grades that provide the ultimate in chemical resistance and low temperature performance for use in Arctic conditions.

ENDURA® is the most technically advanced range of elastomer materials available, developed to bring oilfield sealing technology up-to-date. The physical performance and, chemical and temperature resistance of the materials reflect the difficult conditions in which exploration is now being conducted.

Name: Perlast® ICE
Description: Exceptional perfluoroelastomers for extreme low temperature sealing applications.
Details:
The Perlast® ICE range of perfluoroelastomers has been developed to provide excellent resistance to a broad range of chemicals whilst offering exceptional low temperature performance down to -51°F (-46°C).

These revolutionary perfluoroelastomers (FFKM) exhibit low permeability and as a result are less prone to swelling, which leads to extended in-service life and reliability in valves, pumps and mechanical seals.

Perlast® ICE materials are perfect for use in oil and gas applications such as exploration and completion equipment operating or stored in sub-zero temperatures.

Precision Polymer Engineering recruits new materials analyst to strengthen Houston team

Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance moulded elastomer seals has recruited Eric L Crawford as a material analyst based at the company's office in Houston Texas, which is globally acknowledged as the main oil and gas engineering and design centre both for the Americas and for other regions.

Eric will be responsible for working closely with clients and the PPE application engineering team to provide solutions to advanced sealing problems primarily in the oil and gas industry. By working closely with new and existing clients and using the analytical and test capabilities in PPE’s Houston laboratory, Eric will recommend the best materials and seals designs for specialist oil and gas applications.

PPE currently has a materials group based at its UK headquarters that provides high level technical support to clients, Eric will be working closely with the UK team in delivering this expertise into the US market. Eric has just completed two weeks training at PPE in the UK before returning to Houston to deliver the new role. This latest addition to the technical team is part of PPE's commitment to providing the highest level of customer support globally, and will enhance PPE’s technical support capability in the US.

With the investment in the Houston team and the test equipment to support the role, PPE are now able to be on-site the same day in America and provide preliminary material test results within 24hrs. In critical applications, fast problem identification and the providing of solutions is paramount in the safe and profitable operation of any oil and gas facility. Operating on US time also ensures technical support is always available during normal working hours on both sides of the Atlantic.

Eric has over 5 years specialist materials experience and prior to joining PPE worked for Corning Inc., based in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is a passionate father and husband who coaches little league American football for the East Houston Longhorns and the Liberty girls basketball team.

"Paul Gillyon, PPE’s CEO said " We are delighted that Eric has joined the team at Houston and he is going to be a real asset to the company. Our business in America is growing very quickly and Eric will be able to deliver our high levels of service and technical knowledge right at the heart of the oil and gas industry."

New Automated Test Capability for Oil & Gas Sealing Materials

Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance moulded elastomer seals has invested in a third, advanced test system for the laboratory at their Blackburn, UK headquarters. This system provides automated testing of the resistance of sealing materials to high pressure conditions such as those deep in undersea oil wells.

PPE originally purchased their first test rig in 2007 to help in the development of seals and O-rings for the oil and gas industry. Prior to this, materials were tested at an independent, external laboratory. Acquiring a system in-house gave PPE the ability to test more materials, more efficiently and provided faster turn-around of test results for customers. This was and remains, one of the catalysts helping PPE to grow its oil and gas sealing and components businesses.

In many oil & gas applications, the ability of a sealing material to continue to perform at high pressures and temperatures and to resist damage when depressurised is critical. PPE has a range of materials, marketed under their EnDura brand, which has been developed specifically to meet these demanding requirements. The test systems in PPE’s laboratory are used to validate these materials and to give customers the assurance of data to support the specified operating conditions for the material.

This latest system, the third to be installed in the laboratory, is automated and capable of testing multiple components in various configurations. In this system, materials can be tested through complex cycles of pressurisation and decompression to simulate the challenging conditions that may be met in real applications.

Managing Director of PPE, Paul Gillyon said, “Investing in comprehensive test capabilities over the years has given us a real competitive advantage in developing specialist sealing solutions for the oil and gas industry. Our market share has grown considerably and this 3rd automated system enables us to provide more and better data to customers searching for the best materials to use in difficult conditions.”
