Chevron Oronite is accepting online applications for the position of Facilities Engineer - Designs located in Belle Chasse, LA through July 9, 2017.Requisition Id: 178002Key Responsibilities for this position include:

Continuously works to improve personal and process safety performance at the plant and understands that all injuries, environmental issues, or business losses are preventable through proper planning and risk recognition. Develops relationships with customers and peer support groups inside the plant to better understand their needs and meet expectations. These include, but are not limited to: Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Small/Major Capital Projects, and others within the Design and/or Process Engineering organization. Proactively communicates information and opportunities, both written and orally, to all levels of the organization Provides plant engineering support for the routine daily operation of process units. Actively participates in the planning and execution of unit turnarounds, both planned and unplanned. Develops and manages engineering work requests with safety and reliability as the overshadowing requirements for the person completing the work in the field and the end user. Scopes/troubleshoots process and mechanical problems and issues, develop alternatives, and propose and implement solutions for long term reliability and safety. Answers technical inquiries, makes technical recommendations, provides equipment and system troubleshooting, improves designs engineering tools and develops designs engineering procedures. Carries out various studies to improve plant performance, safety, reliability, and economics. Provides engineering analysis and evaluation of small capital projects typically <$1MM and is expected to execute some small capital projects from scope development to completion in the field. Complete PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements including Management of Change (MOC) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies. Prepare engineered equipment specifications. Order materials and coordinate deliveries. Develop project schedules and prepare cost estimates. Prepare appropriation/expenditure requests, and track project costs. Manage all aspects of construction projects. Assist Operations during equipment and project startup. Conducts trials or test runs to optimize process variables and evaluate plant performance Understand process units current performance by review of process variables and performance analysis. Identify under-performing equipment and make recommendations for cleaning, repair, or modifications. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering. Minimum of 3-5 years work experience in a Refinery, Process plant or equivalent manufacturing environment. Design engineering experience, including plant support, turnaround support, and project development and execution are desired. Holds personal and process safety as a core value and understands that all injuries, environmental issues, or business losses are preventable through proper planning and risk recognition. Technical and Analytical Skills - Able to understand and use appropriate engineering procedures, industry standards, and codes. Familiar with procedures and processes for chemical plants or similar manufacturing facilities. A good working knowledge of pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, piping, turbines, motors, and valves is desired. Knowledge of MS Office applications and drawing software are desired. Initiative - Self-motivated, with the ability to originate and adapt to new ideas. Able to work without supervision and support team activities and team goals. Able to take ownership and lead specific team efforts, such as coordination of capital projects and HAZOP follow-up items. Basic knowledge of process design tools such as PRO/II (or similar process simulator), heat exchanger design tools, etc. Planning and Organization - Able to plan and organize projects from inception and scope-development phase, through startup. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must be flexible and respond to plant needs. Communication and Interpersonal Skills - Able to interact in a proactive way with Operations, Maintenance and other internal and external groups during project development and implementation. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Proactively communicates with team members and other stakeholders. Strong ability to work well with other plant groups and in cross-functional teams. The ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC security clearance Preferred Qualifications: 

Knowledge of batch and continuous processes in specialty chemicals or petrochemical industry is a plus Some project management experience and training is preferred Experienced in evaluating potential hazards by participating in HAZOP studies, incident investigations, alarm objective analysis, management of change, etc. Knowledge of simulation software (PRO/II, HYSYS, Aspen, etc) is desired as well as a good working knowledge of the standard desktop applications Relocation Options: Relocation will not be considered.International Considerations: Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
