Research Engineers
ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company in Spring, Texas is seeking Research Engineers in the field of oil sands mining and processing to evaluate and develop technologies in the field of heavy oil/bitumen extraction and processing. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering or related, or completion of all degree requirements towards a Ph.D., and one year of research experience in a chemical or an oil and gas environment/field. Must possess laboratory and experimental experience with designing, developing, calibrating and evaluating systems dealing with flammable materials. Must possess experience in the setup of remote control systems, using LabView, for data acquisition, instrument control, and automation. Research experience must include scaling up of processes from laboratory scale to pilot or commercial scale using computational fluid dynamics simulations (CFD) and experience in advanced materials science engineering, especially in solids size characterization and interpretation of different measurement techniques including laser diffraction analyzers (i.e., Mastersizer analyzer or Coulter multi-wavelength laser diffraction particle size analyzer). Must possess experience with risk assessment evaluations, process safety engineering, hazard analysis, mass transfer and thermodynamics. Experience may be gained prior to Ph.D. degree conferral.
