Sr Geochemist - Geoscience Technology

Job Summary: Anadarko is seeking a Senior Geochemist to join the Geoscience Technology team located in The Woodlands, TX. This individual will work in a fast-paced environment with an integrated and dynamic team of geochemists, basin modelers, and other subject matter experts to provide support for worldwide exploration and development projects in conventional and un-conventional assets.Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications: A minimum of 8 years of experience applying geochemistry to petroleum exploration, development, and production projects in either industry or in an affiliated academic position. Expert in source rock analysis, kinetics, forward modeling, and maturity estimation methodologies. Experience in reservoir geochemistry, including show detection and evaluation, advanced mud gas techniques, hydrocarbon alteration, reservoir continuity/compartmentalization, and production monitoring. Experience in biomarker and/or diamondoid oil analysis to interpret age, depositional environments, and maturity from multiple basins and hydrocarbon systems. Knowledge of applications in organic and inorganic geochemical techniques in unconventional resource plays. Ability to communicate effectively to individuals and groups that have a broad-range of technical knowledge and experience. Responsibilities: Provides geochemistry support, advice, and guidance for exploration, development, and production projects. Generates integrated petroleum systems products/maps to help teams better evaluate pre-drill risk and uncertainty. Provides geochemical insight and petroleum systems interpretation to aid in field development, reservoir connectivity, and prospect generation. Evaluates source rock with TOC, Rock-Eval, PGC, and other appropriate techniques. Performs oil-oil and oil-source correlation and crude oil inversion using saturate and aromatic biomarkers and stable isotopes. Supports basin and petroleum system modeling efforts by providing guidance on source rock characteristics and appropriate kinetic parameters. Recommends geochemical sampling programs, consult on sampling methods, and oversee sample handling for geochemical projects. Recommends analytical programs, interact with contract labs, oversee their work, and monitor their performance. Represents Anadarko's interests to partners, governments, joint industry projects, and consortia. Teaches, mentors, and coaches staff on geochemical concepts. Education: B.S., M.S. or PhD degree required in geology or geophysics.
