Description

Provides field support of respiratory equipment to include air compressors, air sampling, required testing and maintenance and repair of field emergency response equipment. In addition this position may also be a member of the Fire, Medical, Rescue, and Spill Response teams. Provides spill response and environmental management support to the assigned area. Performs safety audits, identify and record hazard analyses of specific jobs. Performs site inspections around the assigned facility to ensure areas are free from all environmental and safety risks. Typically requires up to 3 years of experience. Entry level. Provides technical and/or administrative support. Demonstrates the ability to learn terminology, applications and standard procedures for performing the job function. Performs routine, basic office/field tasks using established procedures. 

Position Notes: We currently estimate this position to go through the end of August (possibly through September). Interns will assist Fire Technicians with Annual Hose Testing, MSA Air Pack testing, and other jobs as assigned. Preferred candidates will have Emergency Response back round.  Also required valid Driver's License

Hose test • Annual hydro test of all fire hose 1 ¾", 3" and 5" hose to be tested according to NFPA 1962 testing standards • The 5" hose, you will get assistance from the Kuparuk intern like wise you will help with Kuparuk's 5' hose

Extinguisher • Check as necessary per Chief 2 • Operation of extinguisher simulator as directed by Chief 2

Apparatus Cleaning • Wash all apparatus weekly, Monday or Tuesday would be best. • Clean interior one time per hitch or as needed, glass inside and out clean floors and wipe down the interior of apparatus, dash control panels etc. • All apparatus will be detailed, (waxed) toward the end of your season starting at the last week of July this can be divided up between both interns each taking one large and a small piece of equipment.

Equipment Check • Inspect and clean all fittings lubricate as necessary. • Remove all equipment from the apparatus (one compartment at a time so that he apparatus is not out of service) and clean the interior of all apparatus with the exception of the ambulance check with Chief 2 and the PA.

Station duties • Floors will we clean at all times and washed at least one time per week after apparatus washing. • Sweep and/or wash under all lockers weekly • Sweep areas and needed daily
