As part of a dynamic team your role will be diverse and involve all aspects associated with the regulation of environmental legislation and pollution prevention within the offshore oil and gas industry. Your key responsibilities will include: 1. Working closely with offshore operators to ensure required implementation and compliance with offshore environmental regulations through assessment, inspection, investigation and enforcement of matters covered by legislation;
2. Contributing to the fulfillment of a planned inspection programme to achieve agreed targets, and have responsibility for maintaining a regulatory overview of a portfolio of operators and their offshore assets; 3. Investigating contraventions of offshore legislation and this may involve the preparation of reports to the relevant prosecution authorities; 4. Participating in an on-call incident response rota to ensure that operators respond to any pollution incident in accordance with their oil pollution emergency plans; Whilst inspection will be the main focus of your job you may also be required to undertake other activities in the support of the regulatory function to help achieve OPRED's objectives. The successful candidate will have a relevant degree in a science, engineering, environmental or related subject and: 1. be able to demonstrate significant oil and gas experience in a relevant technical role such as production, drilling, maintenance, subsea or be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of offshore oil and gas operations; or 2. a proven track record of inspection, regulation or enforcement in the oil & gas or a related industry. It is a mandatory that applicants pass the UK offshore medical and survival training requirements.
