Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking an On-call Senior Level Geologist to join an experienced team of geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, Certified Industrial Hygienists, geoenvironmental scientists, toxicologists, archeologists, and water resource engineers in our Puget Sound offices. This position includes both office work and field work. The candidate should feel comfortable interacting with clients, construction personnel, and sub-contractors as a professional representative of Amec Foster Wheeler.

 

Key Responsibilities

Working in the field on project sites to perform geotechnical and environmental investigations, and construction monitoring related to earthwork Conduct field exploration programs including supervising subcontractors Interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, and engineering characteristics of the subsurface Perform engineering geologic analysis for infrastructure and development projects such as slope stability, and borrow source analysis Provide oversight of soil excavation, demolition and environmental treatment system installations under the supervision of an experienced project manager Prepare construction monitoring field reports Prepare subsurface investigation reports as part of geotechnical engineering reports Participate in training events, project meetings and staff meetings Prepare and/or edit technical reports for multidisciplinary engineering and science team Work and travel safely, follow company and site safety standards, maintain permits and training certificates Work on several projects at one time and maintain successful client relations Overnight travel is anticipated, and the amount will depend on the project Understands and applies company, client, and site Health and Safety standards Skills / Qualifications

BS in Geology, Hydrogeology or Engineering Geology is required; MS preferred LG required; LEG preferred 10+ years experience on engineering geology and environmental geology-related projects Strong work ethic and must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Demonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a team and achieve team objectives Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required - Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather condition or hazardous materials and in hazardous conditions Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policy Physical Demands

Working outside in various weather conditions and uneven terrain Working on construction sites Will lift equipment and carry laboratory samples which requires the ability to lift 40 pounds Office work with computer Diversity Statement
